Install the CLI or desktop app

Use this when the repeating GUI write has to stay on your computer: secrets, PHI, credentials, or a delivery you must prove. Install the CLI or Desktop on that machine. Later healthy runs make no generative-model API calls.

The OpenAdapt project installs the compiler under openadapt flow. Desktop packages that same runtime for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

No trusted desktop build yet

The latest Desktop installer release (desktop-v0.15.0) isn't signed on every platform, so this page doesn't link its installers. Desktop downloads return here when macOS builds are Developer ID notarized, Windows builds are Authenticode signed, and Linux builds carry a GitHub attestation.

To run a workflow today, install the CLI:

Follow the desktop workflow from capture and replay through a verified result, a safe halt, the compiled program behind it, teaching, settings, and sign-in. The gallery uses headless synthetic fixtures from Desktop 0.15. It does not show a live engine or customer run. Exact capture provenance is published below.

Attended decisions

Answer a safe pause from a phone

Desktop can connect the customer runner to the hosted decision queue, or serve the same closed-schema decision contract through a customer-hosted portal. The phone returns an answer. The runner checks the live application again before it continues. The full-evidence images below show the runner-local portal. The hosted queue omits screenshots and protected fields.

The tray companion

OpenAdapt in the tray, on macOS, Windows, and Linux

openadapt-tray is a separate pip install openadapt-tray package that puts an OpenAdapt indicator in the menu bar or system tray. Install it separately when you want quick access alongside CLI-based workflows. The panels below illustrate where the icon appears on each OS; they are not screenshots.

The real NSIS installer, start to finish

Captured on Windows 11 from v0.6.1. The current desktop release follows the same three-step NSIS flow. Unsigned builds trigger an Unknown Publisher warning, so this page links Desktop installers only once they are signed.
